[INNO] 2017 BAM Conference U.K.(2)

Dr. JS KIM 2017. 9. 18. 03:08

At the second day of 2017 BAM Conference, U.K, I had my first presentation at the first session of innovation. The first session of innovation was held at Oculus Building – University of Warwick.  My paper was titled ‘Empirical Examination of Dynamic System Integration Capabilities in CoPS Innovations – SK Telecom DRM Innovations of Nate and Mellon’.

One of attendees took a photo of me and sent it to me. Thanks!!

This study empirically examined dynamic system integration capabilities in CoPS innovations of services in terms of technological knowledge. It executed a qualitative two-case study of DRM innovations of Nate and Mellon by SK Telecom in S. Korea. By locating CoPS innovation into services the context of business to consumer, it highlighted knowledge of customer interfaces, due to unique characteristics of service architecture. This study also empirically identified the existence of different features of dynamic system integration capabilities in CoPS innovations of services: DRM design capability creation of Nate as modular innovation, DRM design capability creation of Mellon as architectural innovation. Finally, through qualitative measurements of dynamic system integration capabilities, this study can help to develop qualitative measurement of dynamic capability in terms of technological knowledge.

I was very pleased to know that someone told me that my paper can be counted as one of good papers in the 2017 BAM Conference. Anyway, there was another presentation by Pinkse, Vernay, and D’lppolite. The best paper at the SIG of innovation was awarded to Pinkse, Vernay, and D’lppolite. Congratulation on their works. D’lppolite is one of Manchester Business School alumni, who studied together at the MBS. once again, I would like to express my congratulations to D’lppolite (York University).

At the session 3, I just attended the session of International Business and International Management It covered interesting topics such as Microfoundations of dynamic managerial capabilities, Technological innovation and location advantages, and internationalization of SMEs. I had an interesting talk with Haapanen. While the further studies of dynamic capability can look into influential factors of dynamic capability, one of interesting studies is to investigate how firms mobilize dynamic capabilities.

At the session 4, I firstly attended the session of developmental paper. I really wanted to look at how the session of developmental paper really works. And, the best developmental paper was awarded to Dobson, Morales Martinez, and Breslin, who presented ‘Innovation through Evolution: Operational Interaction Patterns in Emergency Incident Response Handling (from Coventry University). They caught a feature of a routine through the empirical work. Because of my first attendance to the BAM conference, it was really good to see two-type sessions. I reached that it would be good to present the developmental paper, if you are working on, in order to get some feedbacks from participants.

And, on the last session at Wednesday, there were two interesting sessions. But I stopped here. I kept saying, given time and space, I can’t write up all – what I thought and felt.
